WHALE Learning Centre

The WHALE Learning Centre is based in Wester Hailes Edinburgh. A Crime Prevention Project carried out between winter 2001 through to spring 2003. The first part of the project engaged young people on the streets. This developed into a radio style recording project, documenting vox-pops around the local area using a Mini-Disk recorder. The second part of the project involved teaching the group to use music technology facilities at WHALE.

Mental Health Awareness Week in September 2002. Working at the Royal Edinburgh Hospitals' Young Peoples Unit. Participants were taught to use Mini-Disk, to record and document a radio presentation exploring the issues surrounding mental health.

The Go 4 it project was a one day taster session in music technology. This session was used as a platform to encourage unemployed people back into education, at local colleges.
