WHALE Learning Centre
The
WHALE Learning Centre is based in Wester Hailes Edinburgh. A Crime
Prevention Project carried out between winter 2001 through to spring 2003. The
first part of the project engaged young people on the streets. This developed
into a radio style recording project, documenting vox-pops around the local area
using a Mini-Disk recorder. The second part of the project involved teaching the
group to use music technology facilities at WHALE.
Mental
Health Awareness Week in September 2002. Working at the Royal Edinburgh
Hospitals' Young Peoples Unit. Participants were taught to use Mini-Disk, to
record and document a radio presentation exploring the issues surrounding mental
health.
The Go

used as a platform to encourage unemployed people back into education, at local
